In November 4; 5 an international conference on “Social Work and Current Agenda of Dignified Social Policy in Armenia” was held at Yerevan State University (Consortium member of the “Doctoral Programmes in Public Health and Social Sciences” Erasmus Project).
The Department of Social Work and Social Technologies in cooperation with its partners as Armenian Association of Social Workers and World Vision Armenia are, hosted almost 100 specialists of social work both from Armenia, and from other countries (Norway, Great Britain, Germany). The YSU hosted also one of the founders of social work’s modern theory, international expert in social work Dr. Malcolm Payne.
During the conference head of the department of Social Work and Social Technologies Dr. Artak Khachatryan held a presentation on the perspectives of social work development in Armenia and informed the auditorium about one of those perspectives which was related to the development of the PhD degree in Social Work within “Doctoral Programmes in Public Health and Social Sciences” Erasmus Capacity Building Project.
After the presentation Dr. Khachatryan and other staff members of the Department answered to the questions of the attenders on the Project and its further establishment.
The result of the discussion was 1. that the level of awareness of the people interested in the Project has risen, 2. potential students have been informed about the new PhD program in Social Work, 3. stakeholders have discussed the issues they were interested in related to the Project.
